How the “more” tag works
There are themes that will automatically cut off posts on the homepage and show only an excerpt there. But most themes will display 10 full posts on the homepage. Even with these themes you can still decide to show only a post excerpt on a case by case basis, with the help of the “more” tag. Simply click on the “Insert More Tag” button in the Wordpress editor to set a “cut-off” point anywhere in your post. And this is how that “cut-off” point looks and reads in the theme that you currently test drive. The “more” tag comes now:
Your post proceeds here. Your blog readers will see this (second) part of your post once they’ve clicked through to the post. The “More” tag might read “Read More” or “Continue reading” in this theme. You can customize the “Read More” tag if you don’t like its content.
