A post with comments and trackbacks

Here’s a sample post with 5 comments and 4 trackbacks, showcasing the styling of the comments area. Do the comments have alternating styling, are author / blog owner comments highlighted? Is the comments form styled, are “allowed tags” displayed? Are the trackbacks styled differently, highlighted or toned down? Does the theme have native gravatar support (without the need for a gravatar plugin)?

The comments area is often a weak point especially in mediocre themes. Not a big deal for sites that barely have comments or don’t allow them anyway, but important for “bloggy” blogs with decent comment activity.

    Test Commenter:

This is the first test comment. Here’s a link, too: Sample link in a comment

Trying out strong formatting and strike through formatting.

    WP Theme Drive:

Another comment, this time from the blog owner. Some themes highlight comments from the blog owner, a nice and usefull feature, but one that most themes don’t provide. The author of this post has a gravatar, too, which should show up if this theme has native gravatar support built in. If a theme doesn’t have native gravatar support, you can still install a gravatar plugin.

    John Doe:

A commenter that didn’t fill out the “Website” field and thus the name shouldn’t be linked. Testing the blockquote tag:

Another comment, this time from someone with an gravatar. Some themes have native gravatar support built in, without the need to install a gravatar plugin first.

    Another comment:

Again a commenter with an active gravatar. Testing the inverse formatting and the code formatting:

< ?php echo "Hello world!"; ?>

    Wordpress Themes:

Another comment, again with someone with a gravatar. Now a blockquote in a blockquote with a link, and all that within a comment:

End of the 1st level blockquote

    End of the comment
